#34. Self

Media: Caran D’Ache watercolor pencils on Torchon Fabriano paper
Dimensions: 8″ X 5″

I drew this portrait referring to one of the few photos of me in which I smile and I don’t absolutely hate myself. I think I was feeling serene at that moment.
This is an entry in the EBSQ show: self portrait.

= challenge #56 draw a self portrait.

  1. Good job! I like the shading on your hair. Interesting that you decided to do it from a photo. I can kind of see why, because we always end up with a concentration face that is often rather unflattering, but I don’t mind that as much as an unflattering photo for some reason – it’s kind of ‘allowed’. 🙂

  2. MarinaGlad you stopped by my site. To answer you…We live in Ispani, Province of Salerno, on the border of Capagna and Basilicata on the coast (Golfo Policastro) from April – mid-November each year. Tony’s grandparents Italian (Guardiagrele di Chieti, Abruzzese and Ceccano, Romano). He dreamed of living in the country of his ancestors. I am lucky enough to be a part of that dream. March 27 we fly to Milan, then train to Tirano, and bus to Bormio (Tony wants to ski). After a week there, we head for home in the south. Lived many years in southwestern CO, and fell in love with the Bormio area when we visited last summer…very like Ouray, CO. Probably more than you wanted to know.
